Kathryn Hunt writes for philanthropies, nonprofit organizations, and universities that desire a clear, compelling voice for their publications.
Before launching her freelance writing business in 1991, she was a writer for KCTS public television in Seattle. Her work for public television eventually led to filmmaking, and she has directed and produced several award-winning documentary films. Her film, Take This Heart, was broadcast on PBS. The film was awarded the Anna Quindlen Award for Excellence in Journalism.
Kathryn is a graduate of the University of Oregon, in English. Her writing has appeared in The Sun, Open Spaces, Cutbank, Pontoon, and Pacific Northwest. She worked as a waitress, short-order cook, bookseller, and in a food bank before pursuing writing and filmmaking fulltime. She has recently completed a memoir, The Province of Leaves.
